UTC Fire & Security announces completion of Detection Logic acquisition

FARMINGTON, Conn., Jan. 8, 2009 ­þu UTC Fire & Security has announced the completion of the acquisition of Detection Logic Fire Protection, Inc., a leading provider of repair, service and inspection solutions to the life safety industry.  The price was not disclosed.  UTC Fire & Security is a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX). 

Detection Logic, headquartered in California, engineers, installs and services fire detection and protection systems for commercial building customers.  The company, Detection Logic Fire Protection, Inc., and its subsidiaries, including Pratt Landry Associates, Vantronics Security Systems, Dialcom System Services and Detection Logic, Inc. (formerly known as Copperstate Technologies and ASL), operate out of 13 U.S. branches concentrated in the West and Gulf Coast area.  In 2007, Detection Logic was on Inc. Magazine¡¯s list of The Fastest Growing Private Companies. 

 

Antonio Cintra, President of the Fire and Security Services business in the Americas, said that Detection Logic is ¡°a strong and profitable company with excellent management talent and a blue-chip customer base.¡± 

 

¡°The proposed acquisition will augment UTC Fire & Security¡¯s presence in the western region and expand our footprint in the Gulf Coast area.  Detection Logic has an attractive business mix comprising of retrofit, tenant improvement and recurring service work which typically is less cyclical than the new construction segment,¡± said Cintra.

 

Headquartered in Connecticut, USA, UTC Fire and Security is a business unit of United Technologies Corp., which provides high technology products and services to the building and aerospace industries worldwide.

Detection Logic Acquires ASL in Tuscon, AZ

July 31, 2008-Detection Logic has announced today that it has completed the acquisition of ASL Leading Edge Technologies, LLC dba ASL Special Systems Group (ASL) of Tucson, Arizona. ASL is the fire life safety leader in Tucson and Yuma markets employing over 25 professionals. This is Detection Logic’s 6^th acquisition to date. This acquisition solidifies Detection Logic’s presence in the entire Arizona market as the largest fire life safety service provider.

 

With this acquisition, Bill Dowling and Ron McCarty have joined Detection Logic in Branch Manager and Sales Executive capacities respectively. In a statement Mr. Dowling said “…we are very excited to join forces with such a respected player in our industry and with our combined capabilities, we will become the number one life safety provider in the entire state of Arizona”. Adding to Mr. Dowling’s comments, the CEO and the President of Detection Logic Mustafa Colak said “..this was a strategic acquisition for us to capitalize on the extensive synergies between our companies in both Yuma and Tucson markets”.

 

Detection Logic continues to focus on the growth of the company by acquisitions and Greenfield offices as well as current market expansion in an effort to establish a national brand.

Detection Logic Acquires Pratt Landry Associates, Inc., and Vantronics Security Systems, Inc.

March 3, 2008:  Detection Logic, Inc., announced today that it has completed the acquisition of Vantronics Security Systems, Inc., of Shreveport, Louisiana, Vantronics Security Systems of Monroe (Louisiana), Inc., and Pratt Landry Associates, Inc, of New Orleans, Louisiana and Biloxi, Mississippi.  The addition of these three dynamic companies expands Detection Logic’s presence into the dynamic Gulf Coast region of the United States, which has been recovering and rebuilding rapidly from the Hurricane Katrina tragedy of 2005.  Vantronics and Pratt Landry are the established leaders in each of their markets for over 30 years and employ a total of over 90 dedicated professionals.  With the addition of Vantronics and Pratt Landry, Detection Logic now boasts a total of 430 employees at twelve offices in five states stretching from the Pacific Northwest, down the California coast, across Arizona to the Gulf Coast.  Regarding the acquisition, Detection Logic president and CEO Mustafa Colak states that "this latest in a series of acquisitions over the past two years continues the Company's expansion strategy toward completing a national footprint, further solidifying its reputation as a recognized industy leader."

With these acquisitions the Company also announces that Ralph Dalton has joined Detection Logic as Vice President of its new Gulf Coast Region, overseeing all operations in New Orleans, Biloxi, Shreveport and Monroe.  Mr. Dalton has the added responsibility of assisting the Company execute its strategic growth plan.  Dalton was previously Vantronics’ president, CEO and owner prior to its sale to Detection Logic; he has over 30 years experience in the fire alarm industry and is very well known and respected as an industry leader, spokesman and innovator.  In a statement, Dalton said "I am very excited to join the Detection Logic team and looking forward to our future growth and mutual success.  Together we have great plans for the future and have already begun  implementing them."  Also joining the Company is Pratt Landry, who was founder, president and CEO of his namesake company having established it as the premier fire alarm company in New Orleans.  We are very pleased that Pratt has agreed to remain to assist in transitioning his company to its new ownership.

Detection Logic Acquires Copperstate Technologies, Inc
Detection Logic Fire Protection, Inc., is proud to announce the completion of the acquisition of Copperstate Technologies, Inc., of Glendale, Arizona, from private equity firm MCG Capital on March 8, 2006. Copperstate Technologies (www.copperstatetech.com), established more than 18 years ago by its President, Timothy A. Snow, is one of Arizona's largest independent providers of full scale fire alarm and control systems to commercial property owners and managers, health care facilities as well as military and other government installations. Detection Logic Acquires the Assets of Wittington Strobel Inc.
Detection Logic Fire Protection, Inc., and ACCO Engineered Systems are pleased to announce that on Friday, March 3, 2006, the two parties have completed the sale of substantially all assets of Wittington Strobel Inc. ("WSI"), by ACCO to Detection Logic Fire Protection, Inc. With this transaction, WSI co-founder Richard Strobel and his dedicated team of professionals specializing in fire-related tenant improvement work join the Detection Logic Family. Strobel founded WSI Engineering in 1986, which was acquired by ACCO in 2001 as an important component in its strategy to offer a full line of building mechanical, electrical and specialized systems.
